While at baseball practice, Tyler’s life changed forever. He was visibily ill, leaving practice early to go to pediatric urgent care, only to be sent to Children's Hospital. A little boy, about to become a teenager 10 days later, had his life turned upside down with 4 words, “Your son has Leukemia.”
A boy who loved playing travel baseball, a boy looking forward to his upcoming traditional birthday dinner at Mulberry, a boy who loved being with friends, playing on the PS5, collecting signed sports memorabilia, a boy who loved watching the Buffalo Bills, Sabres, Bandits & MLB, a boy who love skiing, and being around family, a boy who loved his teammates and being on the diamond with them, had his world turned on its head.
Instead of being down, & accepting defeat, he said he was going to defeat Leukemia, that he would be back doing the things he loved, & wants to be an inspiration to others & make a difference.
The level or support in all ways for Tyler has been unfathomable. One of early supporters, Courage of Carly, has been amazing in all aspects of his fight.
When he was told about the #TylerTough shirts, he was excited, and when he was told we as a family wouldn't accept the proceeds for us, what did want to do? Bubble Hockey? No. Trip? No. New Jordan's? He said he wanted to make a difference now.
A big decision by a 13 year old. He asked that ALL proceeds be donated back to Courage of Carly.
Tyler's hope to is to someday turn Tyler Tough into a foundation, helping kids like himself deal with the unforeseen challenges life may present.
